Today, it was a privilege to be able to help out a family in their time of need, as they said their final goodbyes to a dearly loved relative. Unfortunately with things as they are at the moment, only a very small number of the deceased’s family and friends were able to attend the funeral service in person but via the miracle of Internet live streaming this restriction could be overcome – allowing many more to participate in the funeral service and to pay their respects.
Time was very tight on this live streaming job, with half-hour slots at the Crematorium and only a couple of minutes between funerals – a sad reflection of the times we’re currently living in. This meant that a very simple setup was called for – one operator (Me) with a single professional camera + shotgun microphone on a tripod livestreaming to an unlisted YouTube page via WiFi for the fastest possible “setup and go” system.
The Crematorium did not have WiFi or indeed any Internet access that I could use but I was able to provide the necessary equipment to create a WiFi hotspot using a 4G Mobile router with high-gain antennas.
