Innobella Media Partners with Liverpool John Moores University to Produce Groundbreaking Suicide Prevention Podcast Series

Liverpool-based media production company, Innobella Media, is proud to announce its latest collaboration with Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) on a brand-new podcast series focused on suicide prevention. Building on the success of the Mindful Merseyside podcast, which explored various aspects of mental and physical health, this new series aims to shed light on crucial topics related to suicide prevention awareness, intervention, and support.

Led by Professor Pooja Saini, a leading expert in suicide and self-harm prevention at LJMU, the podcast series features in-depth discussions with key figures in the field, including mental health advocates, researchers, and those with lived experience. The series covers a range of important subjects, including:

  • Barbers and Suicide Prevention – exploring how barbers can recognise signs of distress in their clients and be equipped with resources and training to help.
  • Post-Vention Support – focusing on assisting those bereaved by suicide.
  • Suicide Survivors: Stories of Strength – sharing inspiring stories from those who have survived suicide attempts.
  • Distress in Disguise – recognising hidden struggles, particularly in the media and performing arts industries.
  • Women, Menopause, and Mental Health – discussing the intersection of menopause and mental health challenges.
  • Breaking the Cycle – addressing how suicide in families can increase risk for other members and ways to intervene.
  • Hope in Action – exploring how communities can come together to support suicide prevention initiatives.

The podcast series was produced by Innobella Media, with Paul Freeman-Powell managing the technical production and Gemma Cutting (from In Demand Radio) joining Professor Saini as series host.

Following the recording sessions, Professor Saini praised Innobella Media for their professionalism and compassionate approach:

“What a fantastic experience having Innobella Media producing and recording my latest suicide prevention podcast series. Paul made this so effortless and was really accommodating when things didn’t always go to plan. The flexibility of the company made my experience even better. Also, the compassion shown for the topic and guests who joined us was noted. I will definitely be recommending Innobella Media to others wanting to record a professional podcast series!”
