Liverpool, UK – [24/03/2025] – Innobella Media, a Liverpool-based media production company, in partnership with Professor Pooja Saini, lead of the Suicide and Self-Harm Research Group at Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU), has today launched a new podcast series on all major podcasting platforms dedicated to addressing the critical and often-overlooked issue of suicide prevention.

The series, entitled Let’s Talk Hope: Ending the Stigma around Suicide, aims to provide comprehensive insights, empathetic support and actionable information to individuals and families affected by and at risk of suicide, while actively working to dismantle the stigma that surrounds open discussions on this sensitive subject.

The podcast features in-depth, thoughtful conversations with a diverse range of experts, individuals with lived experience and dedicated professionals within the mental health sector. Episodes delve into:

    • The nuanced complexities of suicide and self-harm, exploring underlying causes and triggers.
    • The pivotal importance of early intervention and accessible support systems, highlighting practical strategies for those in crisis.
    • Evidence-based strategies for prevention and intervention, examining effective approaches for individuals and communities.
    • The critical role of community support networks, emphasising the power of collective action and mutual aid.
    • The profound and lasting impact of suicide on families and communities, offering perspectives on grief and healing.
    • Specific focus on marginalised communities and intersectionality, addressing the unique challenges faced by vulnerable populations.
    • Interviews with key figures, including mental health professionals, academics, and individuals sharing their personal stories, provide a rich tapestry of perspectives.

This series is designed to illuminate the ongoing, dedicated efforts to support those affected by suicide, fostering a deeper understanding of the multifaceted factors contributing to suicide rates and promoting a culture of open, honest dialogue to raise awareness and provide proactive support to those who need it.

Professor Pooja Saini commented, “I wanted to create this series to showcase the voices of people who have been brave enough to speak about their experiences and who are constantly inspiring hope in other people who may find themselves in a similar situation. I’m in a unique position as an academic expert in Suicide Prevention as I’ve had the opportunity to speak with many people who have personal experience of suicide as well as those involved in setting up suicide-specific community-based services. My role has been to ensure that these services are designed to work well for the people who need them and that they embed evaluation and research to show the impact of their work. By collaborating with Innobella Media to produce this series, we can reach a wider audience and contribute to meaningful, lasting change.

Paul Freeman-Powell, owner of Innobella Media, stated, “It’s been a genuine pleasure to work once again with Professor Saini on what has been such an important project. We are committed to producing content that has a positive social impact and provides valuable resources to our clients and their listeners. We hope this podcast series will serve as a vital resource for individuals, families and communities seeking information, support and hope.

The podcast is now available on major podcast platforms, including Spotify, YouTube Music, Amazon Music and Apple Podcasts.
