Introduction

Innobella Media is committed to providing a safe and healthy work environment for all employees. This policy outlines our expectations regarding the use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.

Prohibited Activities

The following activities are strictly prohibited on company property, during work hours, or when conducting business on behalf of Innobella Media:

  • Reporting to work under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
  • Possessing, using, selling, or distributing illegal drugs or alcohol on company property.
  • Being impaired by prescription or over-the-counter medication that affects your ability to perform your job duties safely.
  • Operating any company vehicle or equipment while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Indicators of Impairment

The following behaviors may be considered indicators of drug or alcohol impairment and could lead to disciplinary action:

  • Slurred speech or difficulty concentrating
  • Incoherence or unusual behavior
  • Excessive sleepiness or fatigue
  • Unsteady gait or poor coordination
  • Poor judgment or decision-making
  • Odors of alcohol or drugs

Management Responsibility

Managers are responsible for observing for signs of drug or alcohol impairment in their employees and taking appropriate action. This may include:

  • Refusing to allow an employee who appears impaired to work or operate machinery.
  • Encouraging the employee to seek help from the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) if available.
  • Reporting any suspected drug or alcohol use to Human Resources.

Employee Responsibilities

All employees are responsible for:

  • Reporting to work in a fit state to perform their duties safely.
  • Abstaining from using drugs or alcohol that may impair their ability to work safely.
  • Seeking help from the EAP or a supervisor if they have a problem with drug or alcohol abuse.
  • Reporting any suspected drug or alcohol use by a coworker to a supervisor or Human Resources.

Disciplinary Action

Violation of this policy may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. The severity of the disciplinary action will depend on the nature and severity of the violation.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

If you are struggling with drug or alcohol abuse, Innobella Media encourages you to utilize our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) if available. The EAP provides confidential counseling and support services to help employees overcome personal challenges, including substance abuse.

We encourage open communication and will work collaboratively with employees who seek help with substance abuse problems.
